Less than 2 weeks to go.....

Well not too much has been happening apart from the countdown to the wedding. Less than 2 weeks to go and I still need to book the entertainment... Oh well, I'm sure it'll get done.

Was a little under the weather last week so no progress on the pyjamas and still haven't finished the scarf. I did however finish a couple of books whilst on the couch and will soon need to head to the library for some fresh books. I need to put a few on hold for the honeymoon, need something to good to read whilst we lounge around the pool.

Got a new photo of the l'il brown poodle, this is his favourite spot on the back deck, camouflaged by the pot plant and able to check out what's going on out on the street:

My First Post

This is my first attempt at blogging, I've been reading a few sewing and knitting based blogs over the last couple of months since I started sewing lessons and I guess it's inspired me.

I've named the blog for my l'il brown poodle Java - well he's not that little anymore...
That's him playing with the canvas bone I made him a couple of weeks ago, my second production on the sewing machine and I'm so proud of it. It's got three sqeakers in it that Java managed to disable by the second day however the bone itself is still going - pretty good with his track record of tearing apart his stuffed toys.... This is how the bone currently looks:
The lesson there was to use a darker coloured canvas the next time I sew him a bone....

Tonight I attempted another first, I took up OH's jeans using the sewing machine. It was a little stressful actually cutting into expensive store bought clothing, everything I've sewn so far has been from material costing less than $10/m. The sewing machine performed well, chugging away through the thicker layers but it managed and the special jeans needle I bought do the job without breakage. So OH now has jeans that no longer drag along the concrete behind him and only he and I know where I stuffed up cutting the excess material off almost creating a spiffy pair of 3/4 pants for him....

That's it for the first post, we'll see how long it takes me to get on here again!
